In January USS SARGO completed an INSURV Inspection and drydocked at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard for emergency repairs.

In March USS SARGO departed for the Western Pacific for her second-to-last six-month deployment. During March and April USS SARGO visited Guam, Marianas Islands, U.S. Territory and conducted local operations in the vicinity of Guam and Japan.

From May through August USS SARGO continued her deployment to WESTPAC. USS SARGO completed upkeeps in Guam and Subic Bay, completed exercises in the vicinity of Subic Bay and visited the following ports: Subic Bay, Philippines; Hong Kong, B.C.; Chinhae, Korea; and Yokosuka, Japan.

  On the last night on WESTPAC Willie was bet $150 to walk from the Forward Torpedo Room to the Stern Room wearing nothing but his TLD and his boondockers.

USS SARGO returned to homeport in September finishing the deployment with a highly successful Operational Reactor Safeguards Examination.

USS SARGO completed an upkeep at Pearl Harbor, HI in October and conducted local operation before turning West again, in November, to deploy for FLEETEX-85.

In late December, following completion of FLEETEX-85 and a port visit to Yokosuka, Japan USS SARGO arrived back in Pearl Harbor, HI.
