These operations were conducted in the vicinity of Indonesia, Somalia, the Persian Gulf, the Mediterranean, and the Arctic. In 1994, after ten years of oceanographic research, Jack retired from sea-going life and settled in Federal Way, WA with his wife Ning and son Jay. Jack is employed by the Washington State Department of Ecology, where he continues his life-long association with ships by administering the database operations for the Oil Spill Prevention Program, which inspects and regulates commercial shipping in Puget Sound and the Columbia River with the goal of preventing oil spills. Ning is an Occupational Therapist; Jay graduated from the Naval Academy in 2011 and entered the submarine service. In 2015 he was serving on the USS BOISE (SSN 764) in Norfolk, VA.
